Symbol Harvesting Requirements and Status Explained
Troubleshoot Symbol (XYM) delegated harvesting by checking the 10,000 XYM requirement, importance, key links, node acceptance, and Desktop Wallet harvesting status.

Delegated harvesting depends on more than your XYM balance. Importance, key links, the delegation request, and node acceptance all matter.
Five things to check first
1. Do you have at least 10,000 XYM?
Symbol mainnet requires at least 10,000 XYM for harvesting eligibility.
Keep a little more than 10,000 XYM because key-link and activation transactions also require fees.
2. Is importance greater than zero?
A balance above 10,000 XYM is not enough if importance has not been calculated yet.
Mainnet uses an importanceGrouping of 720 blocks, which is about six hours at the target block interval.
Because harvesting probability uses recent importance values, a newly funded account can need around 12 hours before its effective harvesting probability becomes greater than zero.
3. Are the harvesting keys linked?
Delegated harvesting requires the wallet to link the necessary keys to the account.
If Harvesting Status shows KEYS LINKED, the key registration is complete, but the delegation request has not yet finished.
4. Did you activate delegated harvesting?
After linking the keys, select Activate.
This sends a Persistent Delegation Request to the selected node.
The wallet can temporarily show IN PROGRESS after this step.
5. Did the node accept the delegation?
Nodes have a maximum number of delegated harvesters they can accept.
A valid request can still fail to become ACTIVE if the node is full or unavailable.
Harvesting Status meanings

| ACTIVE | Delegated harvesting is enabled | Setup is complete |
| FAILED | Activation failed or state could not be confirmed | Check connectivity, node, capacity, and wallet state |
ACTIVE but no reward
ACTIVE means the account is able to participate through delegated harvesting. It does not promise a reward within a particular time.
The probability of harvesting depends on your account importance. A low-importance account may go for a long time without a reward.
